Increased Precautions We're Taking in Response to the Coronavirus
As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at Southeastern Massachusetts Comprehensive Treatment Centers to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at Southeastern Massachusetts Comprehensive Treatment Centers.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • We are offering visitation through telehealth services so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services are being vetted and may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

  • All staff has received infection prevention and control training.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided.
  • Patient care supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer are being monitored and utilized.
  • Temperature and symptom screening protocols are in place for all patients and staff.

  • We are in communication with our local health department to receive important community-specific updates.

The safety of our patients, their families, and our employees is our top priority, and we will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with COVID-19.

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips that can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Learn About Us

Gifford Street Wellness Center is an outpatient opioid treatment center that provides medication-assisted care to adult men and women ages 18 and above. The services that are offered at Gifford Street Wellness Center are designed for adults who have been dependent upon prescription painkillers, heroin, or other opioids for at least 12 months.

With a combination of specially selected prescription medications and an array of focused therapeutic activities, Gifford Street Wellness Center helps adult men and women to overcome the physical and psychological obstacles that can prevent them from achieving and maintaining long-term recovery.

Following a thorough assessment of an individual’s needs and treatment goals, the staff of Gifford Street Wellness Center will collaborate with the individual to develop a personalized treatment plan that identifies the medication and therapeutic interventions that are best suited to his or her unique situation. The following medications are incorporated into treatment at Gifford Street Wellness Center:

  • Methadone
  • Suboxone (buprenorphine)

Methadone and Suboxone/buprenorphine allow individuals to stop using heroin, prescription painkillers, and other opioids of abuse without experiencing either the powerful cravings or other painful withdrawal symptoms. While taking methadone or Suboxone/buprenorphine, and individual will have the clarity of mind that will enable him or her to operate a motor vehicle, attend work and/or school, actively participate in the therapeutic elements of treatment, and otherwise fully engage in a healthy and productive lifestyle. Both of these medications have a documented history of safety and effectiveness when used as directed by a qualified healthcare provider as part of a licensed medication-assisted treatment program.
